DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Our Central Scheduling Department receives approximately 24,000 calls per month and schedules approximately 33,000 events per month. This is a call center operation where our work is generated by incoming phone calls. We receive calls from both patients and physician office to schedule and pre-register patients for future services. When a patient calls to schedule a service we complete their pre-registration information, during their initial call, so that there is no need for them to call back. Patient Access Representatives schedule for all SJMHS locations (with the exception of St. Mary's Livonia) and will include the following service areas; Surgery (main operating rooms and ambulatory sites), Radiology, Sleep Studies, Pulmonary Function Testing, Vascular Lab, Pain Services, Endoscopy, Diabetes education and Nutricare. SUMMARY: Our Central Scheduling department is looking for candidates who enjoy working in a fast paced call center environment with the responsibility of scheduling and pre-registering patients for future services. Collaborating with physician offices to coordinate multiple services in the proper sequence, informing patient/doctor's office as to how to prepare for their visit and discuss insurance requirements for each service. Also must be able to collaborate with multiple departments to best utilize equipment and facilities, while accommodating physician preference and patient needs. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires high school diploma or equivalent. One to two years related experience in patient access activities including scheduling, registration, insurance verification, cash collection and account resolution.
