Job Description
A Whitmore Lake apartment community is looking for an experienced maintenance technician, with a great attitude, skills, and who is looking for long term employment.
This position, under direct supervision, is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair duties. This position requires the ability to work different shifts, including weekends and holidays and extended hours out doors in different weather conditions. Ability to work independently within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful.
Education, Knowledge and Skills:
High School Diploma, GED, or some college credits from a technical school.
One or more years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Responsible for performing general maintenance and repair duties. Proficient in all aspects of apartment maintenance, including
• Heating/ Cooling HVAC Certified preferred
• Electrical knowledge-basic
• Plumbing-basic
• Basic maintenance skills
• Appliance repair
Experience with drywall repairs and painting are essential.
Required ability to work different shifts, including holidays and extended hours.
Teamwork with the ability to work within different departments and with other staff is necessary to be successful.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
Essential Responsibilities and Duties:
Operates various types of tools and equipment safely and efficiently.
Establishes and maintains effective working relationships.
Follows written and verbal instructions.
Reads and interprets equipment manuals and work orders to perform tasks as requested.
Ability to perform repair to exterior where there are heights.
Identifies and reports broken equipment or uncertain conditions to the department supervisor.
Maintains the work area and equipment in a clean and safe condition that meets safety regulations.
Performs preventative maintenance on machinery and the building or grounds as required.
Maintains a positive Customer Service attitude in interactions with staff and property residents.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Some heavy lifting and considerable moving of equipment required. Effectively handle lifting of various objects weighing up to 100 pounds. May be required to lift up to 50 pounds. Must be able to handle repairs to 2/3 story buildings.
