Description
Over all Responsibility
Complete daily test operational requirements. Monitor test cell status and interface directly with Shift Team Leader and other Technicians.
Key areas of Responsibility
Monitor test cells, assist in the running of tests, reporting any discrepancies to the team shift leader and maintain a test cell log.
Assist other technicians, team shift leader and/or engineer with installation of Catalyst systems, while completing on the job training to gain the correct working procedures and relevant experience.
Help and assist with installation of engines and test equipment, while completing on the job training to gain the correct working procedures and relevant experience.
Assist in engine and system trouble shooting to gain experience and confidence in the correct methods of approach, in the systematic correction of any faults, warnings, or shutdowns occurring during the normal operation of a test.
Clean the test shop and complete any housekeeping tasks as scheduled by the Shift Team Leader, Workshop Manager or Engineer in Charge.
Assist engine maintenance and test replenishments to gain experience and the confidence to complete these tasks as they occur.
Assist the setting up of a new test and its initial running, the correct checking of all system alarms, shutdowns and warning, the correct operation of test procedures and relevant experience.
Assist in any fabrication tasks as required.
Report ALL concerns to the Team Shift Leader and/or Engineer in Charge. If in doubt, check and ask for guidance.
Wear the correct company uniform and items of personal safety equipment as set out in the Company Staff Manual and follow the guidelines and procedures set in the Health and Safety Manual.
Assist in the control and requesting of consumable items and reporting any shortfall or discrepancies to the Team Shift Leader.
Qualifications : BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Skills and Attributes
Basic Mechanical Attitude
Basic PC skills
Logical, clear and concise approach to the keeping of written test logs.
The ability to follow test procedures and written instructions
A sound sense of responsibility
Ability to meet normal physical demands of an engine test cell technician. Normal demands include but are not limited to the ability to lift up to 50 lbs (including lifting above head 30lbs), as well as pushing/pulling 50lbs
Ability to work shift schedule as described in offer letter
Experience Required
Ability and willingness to learn and retain new procedures and skills
Basic mechanical skills
Good time keeping
Proven ability to complete the shift work as required
